At Norman – We Care

Norman deeply care about the global environment and strongly believe in the importance of supporting sustainable manufacturing practices and producing window covering products which reduce our overall environmental impact and help create a healthy and safe home for your family. But how are we doing this? Here are just a few examples.

Timber Certification

As a large manufacturer of wood products, we respect and support responsible forest management and are committed to producing quality window covering products that are backed by globally recognised certifications. All our wood suppliers are rigorously vetted to ensure we maintain a legal and sustainable chain of custody for all wood inputs. Nien Made Enterprise Co Ltd also holds the world recognised FSC certificate for responsible forest management (Certificate No. DNV-COC-000195)

Making Products Safe for You and Your Family

Norman recognises the importance of making products that are safe for your family and the environment. No harmful substances are added in our products in the manufacturing processes, and it is our goal to make use of sustainable, non-toxic and recyclable materials. Norman has stringent requirements and standards for the production processes, including the strict management of up-stream supply chain procurement. We require all raw materials to comply with legal regulations and requirements for the contents of 8 major heavy metals when making purchases. We also require our suppliers to provide the latest test reports every 3 months so as to check on the health, safety and quality of our products at the source.

All of our raw materials have extremely low or nil VOC’s, heavy metals and formaldehyde emissions and no added harmful chemicals. For example, our Australian made Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) used in our Woodlore shutter programs has the extremely low formaldehyde E0 rating and is compliant with the Californian Air Resources Board P2 standard, one of the strictest in the world. As a final check to give our global customers peace of mind our shutter, blind and shade products have all been tested and approved under the European REACH standards*

*Chemicals are the essential component of many products we come into contact with every day of our lives, but some chemicals can severely damage our health or the environment. There is an increase in health problems that can be partially explained by our increased exposure to a range of harmful chemicals. Some man-made chemicals are found in the most remote places in the environment but also in our bodies. Chemicals are everywhere. The EU, has now developed the world’s leading comprehensive chemicals legislation, spearheaded by REACH which aims to ensure a high level of protection of human health and the environment.
